The typical backyard these days doesn’t just incorporate a barbecue grill and a seating vignette, now it offers an all-encompassing living area designed
to have the same amenities as interior spaces. More and more, outdoor areas include fully-functional outdoor kitchens, fireplaces or fire pits, cozy
seating, advanced lighting and heating systems, and much more.
With that in mind, we wanted to share with you an outdoor living and kitchen project that embodies form and function…
Tasked with transforming a narrow outdoor space into a backyard haven, Rick Nassetta, president of Roomscapes, and his team set to work. The goal
was to seamlessly blend the existing pool area and landscaping with the new additions and to ensure it had the same look and feel as the
homeowner’s interiors.
Based in Newport Beach, Calif., Roomscapes is a full-service, design-build firm specializing in kitchen and bath installations as well as outdoor kitchens
and living areas. The firm is separated into two teams: designers and installers. The experienced design team maps out the plans and pulls the
required materials together, while the installers and project managers oversee the project from start to finish.
The outdoor kitchen features a state-of-the-art, vented grilling station backed by a stunning tile motif for added character. The stainless steel
cabinetry from Danver Stainless Outdoor Kitchens is finished in PC Woodgrain powder coat, which has the same look as real wood without the
negative effects such as warping, splitting or cracking. The end result is a cherry-colored hue that is both beautiful and durable.
The exterior kitchen also features a large bar seating and prep area with an under-the-counter refrigerator and sink, giving the homeowners prime
space for entertaining. The same-style stainless steel cabinets provide ample storage and are topped with a natural stone countertop called
“Rainforest” imported from Brazil.
In addition, the exterior expansion is wired for electronics; includes electric infrared heaters; as well as a security system for the television unit. A
water feature is also located on the backside of the grilling station along with an herb garden.
As a result of a sensible plan and good design, Roomscapes succeeded in transforming a mundane area into a dramatic backyard oasis.
